Treasure Balloon

I created this treasure balloon from concept to completion as a "one-day challenge".
with a poly-limit of 500 triangles I was to create a 'treasure object', most common of these being simply a chest. I decided to make a hovering balloon that a player might have to shoot down in order to retrieve their reward.
In that one day I successfully managed to create the object's geometry, create a very basic texture, animate it, and set it up in a game engine. The GIF shown is taken from the Maya viewport with ShaderFX shaders.
The rotating of the fans on the balloon is achieved by a separate panning shader which is panning the main balloon diffuse. The main texture has a vertical strip at the edge, containing two different values of grey, one above the other. The texture pans vertically, and due to the UV layout of the surface of the fans, each of the six sections of fan alternate between the lighter and darker grey.
